Mount Carmel – Maria T. Bridy, 78, of 830 West 5th Street, passed away March 13, 2022 at Watsontown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Shamokin on November 16, 1943, the daughter of August and Blanche (Tamanini) Bridy.

Maria was a 1961 graduate of Kennett Square High School and attended Nursing School in West Chester. She worked as an LPN at Chester County Hospital and later was employed for 40 years at Good Samaritan Regional Hospital.

She was a member and Eucharistic Minister at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She helped decorate the Church for Christmas, Easter, and other holidays and volunteered to help at Church festivals. Maria was a vowed member of the Secular Order of the Discalced Carmelite Community of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel and St. Joseph’s of Elysburg. She held many offices during her 34 years of her vocation including Director of Formation. She was a member of the Court St. Cecilia number 1529 in Girardville, the Luscious Ladies in Red (The Red Hatters) of Girardville, and the Cursillo.

Maria is survived by her niece Carol J. Jingeleski, who resided with Maria for the past 16 years, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins in Wilkes-Barre and New York, and relatives in Trento, Italy and Austria. In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by a brother, August Bridy and a sister, Helen Jingeleski.

FUNERAL NOTICE
Maria T. Bridy, 78, of Mount Carmel – Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Francis Karwacki officiating in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 47 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Mount Carmel Twp. Visitation will be held in the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Arrangements are in care of C.
